今剛氏や日本のスタジオミュージシャンの間からその高い演奏性とサウンドの良さ、実戦的な仕様、そしてVitalizerによる音質劣化防止機能等で人気を博したDeceiver。
現在ではProvidenceに社名が引き継がれましたが今なお衰えない支持を持ち続けている名ブランドです。
今回入荷致しました品はそんなDeceiver期に製作されていたシングルカットスタイルのモデル、aH-102m。
アッシュ材の特徴でもある杢目が近田づ良く浮き出たシースルーのサンバースト系のカラーHorizon Burstが目を惹く品です。

ネックシェイプは薄く仕上げられたＤシェイプに近い握り心地を持ち、ネック裏もきめ細かく仕上げられたサテン塗装のおかげで長時間の演奏や素早いポジション移動の際もスムーズに行えます。
また指板面においても305Rの緩やかな指板ラディアス、Jescar 9665Nのフレットサイズのおかげでテクニカルなフレーズにも対応しやすい、高い演奏性が楽しめます。

木材構成は2ピースの軽量なアッシュボディ、メイプルネック、メイプル指板からの組み合わせを採用。
3.06kgという軽さのおかげで中低域はスッキリとしたまとまりの良さと芯の太さが感じられ、ハリのある高域が印象的な組み合わせです。

ピックアップにはオリジナルのハムバッカーモデルをマウント。
程よい出力値にクリアながら角は少し丸みも感じさせてくれるキャラクターが扱いやすく、クリーントーンでは音粒の揃いも良く、明るい音色がフレーズやニュアンスをキレイに出力してくれます。
ドライヴ時にはより太さと艶やかさが増した音色が楽しめ、現在のProvidenceにも受け継がれているスタジオギアらしい伸びやかな音色が幅広いジャンルで活躍してくれます。
更にはコイルタップスイッチも搭載しておりますのでより煌びやかなサウンドへ移行させる事も可能な点も魅力です。
また特徴でもあるバッファー回路Vitalizerのオンオフスイッチ、Vitalizerの掛かり方の調整を行えるSoft/Hardスイッチも搭載しているのでエフェクターを使用した際、長いシールドを使用した際等の音質変化、劣化を防いでくれます。

コンディションは経年や使用に伴うスリキズや打こん、パーツ類のくすみやサビ、色焼け、一部塗装にひびや欠けがございますがフレットの余力もしっかりとあり、トラスロッドの効きも良好な即戦力としてこれからもお使い頂ける良好なコンディション。

中古市場でも中々見かける事の少ないDeceiver。

The Deceiver gained popularity among musicians like Tsuyoshi Kon and Japanese studio musicians for its high playability, excellent sound, practical design, and the Vitalizer’s sound quality preservation feature.
Although the brand name has since been taken over by Providence, it remains a legendary brand with unwavering support to this day.
The item we’ve just received is the aH-102m, a single-cutaway model produced during the Deceiver era.
It features an eye-catching “Horizon Burst” finish—a see-through sunburst—that beautifully highlights the distinctive ash grain.

The neck shape offers a grip similar to a thin D-shape, and thanks to the finely textured satin finish on the back of the neck, it allows for smooth playing even during long sessions or quick position changes.
Additionally, the fingerboard features a gentle 305R radius and Jescar 9665N frets, providing excellent playability that makes it easy to handle technical phrases.

The wood configuration features a lightweight two-piece ash body, a maple neck, and a maple fingerboard.
Weighing just 3.06 kg, this combination delivers clean, well-defined mid-to-low frequencies with a solid core, paired with crisp, resonant highs.

The guitar is equipped with an original humbucker model.
With moderate output and a character that is clear yet slightly rounded, it’s easy to handle. In clean tones, the notes are well-defined, and the bright tone beautifully conveys phrasing and nuance.
When driven, you can enjoy a tone with even greater body and richness; the expansive sound characteristic of Studio Gear—a trait carried over to current Providence models—performs exceptionally well across a wide range of genres.
Another appealing feature is the coil-tap switch, which allows you to transition to an even more sparkling sound.
It also features the on/off switch for the signature “Vitalizer” buffer circuit, as well as a Soft/Hard switch to adjust the Vitalizer’s response. These help prevent changes in tone quality or degradation when using effects pedals or long cables.

In terms of condition, while there are some scratches and dents from age and use, as well as tarnish, rust, and discoloration on parts, along with some cracks and chips in the finish, the frets still have plenty of life left and the truss rod is functioning well. It’s in excellent condition and ready for immediate use.

The Deceiver is a model rarely seen even on the used market.
This is a highly recommended item for anyone looking for a high-spec, versatile model.
