ESPが展開するハイエンドラインのひとつであり、世界のトップアーティストによるレコーディングやライブでの使用を想定して製作される「E-II」。ESP USAがディレクションを行い、日本国内で製造される同シリーズは、優れたサウンドやルックスと日本のクラフトマンシップを融合させたワールドツアーモデルとして高い完成度を誇ります。今回ご紹介いたしますのは、HORIZONシリーズならではの高い演奏性と7弦ギターならではの重厚なサウンドを兼ね備えた「E-II HORIZON NT-7」でございます。

ボディにはアルダー、ネックには3ピースのハードメイプルを採用したスルーネック構造を採用。エボニー指板、24フレット、27インチスケールを組み合わせ、7弦ギターならではの低音域をしっかりと支えながら、ハイポジションまでスムーズにアクセスできる高い演奏性を実現しています。ネックにはThin Uシェイプを採用し、テクニカルなプレイにも対応する優れた操作性を備えております。

フロントピックアップにはEMG 707、リアピックアップにはEMG 81-7を搭載。クリアでタイトな低音域と力強いアタック感を備え、7弦ならではのヘヴィなリフからリードプレイまで幅広く対応いたします。ハイゲインサウンドとの相性にも優れ、ダウンチューニングを含めたモダンなプレイスタイルにも適した構成となっております。

ブリッジにはストリングスルータイプを採用し、ボディに弦を直接通すことで、安定した演奏性としっかりとした弦振動を実現。チューナーにはSperzel製ロッキングチューナーを採用しており、チューニングの安定性にも配慮されています。また、7弦モデルながら通常のギターに近い操作感を維持したHORIZONシェイプにより、幅広いプレイスタイルに対応します。

さらに、マスターボリュームとマスタートーン、ピックアップセレクターによるシンプルなコントロール構成を採用。必要な操作に絞られた扱いやすいレイアウトにより演奏中の素早い操作にも対応し、アンプやエフェクターを活かしたサウンドメイクにも適した仕様となっております。

状態といたしましては、使用に伴う擦り傷や打痕、パーツのくすみやサビ、メッキ剥げ、ボディの艶などがございますが、演奏上問題になるような大きな傷はございません。フレット残量は目安90％、トラスロッドの効きも締め方向、緩め方向共にに余裕を残した状態となっております。

AThe “E-II” is one of ESP’s high-end lines, designed for use in recordings and live performances by the world’s top artists. Directed by ESP USA and manufactured in Japan, this series boasts a high level of craftsmanship as a world-tour model that blends exceptional sound and aesthetics with Japanese craftsmanship. Today, we’re introducing the “E-II HORIZON NT-7,” which combines the exceptional playability unique to the HORIZON series with the rich, full-bodied sound characteristic of a 7-string guitar.

The body is crafted from alder, and the neck features a 3-piece hard maple through-neck construction. Combined with an ebony fingerboard, 24 frets, and a 27-inch scale length, this design firmly supports the low-end characteristic of a 7-string guitar while delivering exceptional playability that allows for smooth access to the higher frets. The neck features a Thin U profile, providing excellent maneuverability suitable for technical playing.

It is equipped with an EMG 707 front pickup and an EMG 81-7 rear pickup. With clear, tight bass response and a powerful attack, it handles a wide range of playing styles—from the heavy riffs unique to 7-string guitars to lead playing. It pairs exceptionally well with high-gain sounds and is designed to suit modern playing styles, including down-tuning.

The bridge features a string-through design, with strings passing directly through the body to ensure stable playability and robust string vibration. Sperzel locking tuners are used to ensure tuning stability. Furthermore, despite being a 7-string model, the HORIZON shape maintains a feel similar to a standard guitar, accommodating a wide range of playing styles.

Furthermore, it features a simple control layout consisting of a master volume, master tone, and pickup selector. This user-friendly layout, streamlined to only the essential controls, allows for quick adjustments while playing and is well-suited for shaping your sound using amplifiers and effects pedals.

As for its condition, there are some scratches and dents from use, as well as some tarnish, rust, and peeling plating on parts, and the body’s gloss has faded slightly; however, there are no major scratches that would interfere with playing. The remaining fret wear is approximately 90%, and the truss rod has ample adjustment range in both the tightening and loosening directions.

The “HORIZON NT-7” combines the exceptional craftsmanship of the E-II series—a product of ESP’s refined manufacturing expertise—with the rich, full-bodied sound unique to 7-string guitars.
