惜しまれながらも生産が完了と成ったWashburnを代表したモデル、N4シリーズ。
今回入荷致しました品は数あるN4シリーズの中でも当時ヌーノ氏が長年愛用して来たオリジナルのN4のスペックを再現し、上位モデルとしてラインナップされていたN4 Original。
ヘッドまでびっしりと入ったバーズアイメイプルが美しく、エボニー指板の黒々とした色合いとナチュラルフィニッシュのコントラストが色褪せないカッコ良さを演出してくれる品。
またN4のデカールも貼られた、シグネチャーモデルらしいルックスに仕上げられた個体です。

ネックシェイプは薄く仕上げられ、更につや消しのネック裏との組み合わせによって素早いポジション移動や長時間の演奏もストレスがsくないです。
また特徴でもあるStephen's Extended Cutawayによるハイフレットへのアクセスの良さ、小ぶりなボディ等シグネチャーモデルながら数多くのプレイヤー達を虜にして来た高い演奏性はやはり特筆すべき弾きやすさです。
またリアもエスカッションマウントされている点も細かい部分ではございますが魅力です。

木材構成はN4シリーズ伝統のアルダーボディ、メイプルネック、エボニー指板の伝統的な組み合わせを採用。
3.23kgと軽く、そのおかげで中低域はまとまりの良さと芯の太さが感じられ、弾ける様な煌びやかな高域が印象的です。

ピックアップにはこちらも特徴でもあるフロントにSeymour Duncan SH-1n 59とリアにはBill Lawrence L-500をマウント。
ハリと明るさを感じさせる音色はクリーンでも活躍し、反応の良さも合わさる事で手元のニュアンスやフレーズの再現性も良く、ボリュームコントロールによってシンプルながら弾き手の強弱を繊細に再現してくれます。
ドライヴ時にはより厚みが増した音色が楽しめ、しかしながらギラつきも感じさせるその明るさは残したままという抜けの良い個性的な音色が楽しめます。

コンディションは経年や使用に伴うスリキズや打痕、パーツ類のくすみやサビ、一部色焼け等が見受けられますが大きく目立つ物は無く、フレットの高さもしっかりとあり、トラスロッドの効きも良好なこれからも末永くお使い頂ける即戦力のコンディション。

N4 Original自身中古市場でも見かける事が少なく、現在N4シリーズの生産も終了と成りました事もあり、当時逃した方や良コンディションのN4モデルをお探しだった方は是非お見逃しなく。

The N4 series—a flagship model for Washburn—has now been discontinued, much to everyone’s regret.
The model we’ve just received is the N4 Original, which, among the many N4 series models, reproduces the specifications of the original N4 that Mr. Nuno used for many years and was positioned as a top-of-the-line model in the lineup.
The beautiful bird’s-eye maple, which extends all the way to the headstock, combined with the deep black hue of the ebony fingerboard and the natural finish, creates a timelessly cool look.
Additionally, this instrument features the N4 decal, giving it the distinctive look of a signature model.

The neck is finished with a slim profile, and when combined with the matte back of the neck, it allows for quick position changes and stress-free playing even during long sessions.
Furthermore, the signature features—such as the excellent access to the high frets provided by Stephen’s Extended Cutaway and the compact body—contribute to the exceptional playability that has captivated countless players, making this signature model remarkably easy to play.
Another appealing detail, though subtle, is the escutcheon-mounted bridge.

The wood configuration adopts the traditional combination of an alder body, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard—a hallmark of the N4 series.
Weighing just 3.23 kg, the guitar delivers well-balanced, full-bodied mid and low frequencies, along with impressively sparkling, lively highs.

The pickups—another defining feature—include a Seymour Duncan SH-1n 59 in the front and a Bill Lawrence L-500 in the rear.
The tone, with its crispness and brightness, shines even in clean settings; combined with its responsive feel, it faithfully reproduces subtle nuances and phrasing, while the volume control allows for a simple yet delicate expression of the player’s dynamics.
When driven, the tone gains even more depth, yet retains that bright, sparkling quality, resulting in a distinctive, clear sound with excellent projection.

In terms of condition, there are some scratches and dents from age and use, as well as some tarnish and rust on parts and some discoloration in places; however, there are no major, conspicuous flaws. The frets have good height, and the truss rod is functioning well, making this a ready-to-play guitar that will serve you well for many years to come.

The N4 Original itself is rarely seen on the used market, and since production of the N4 series has now ended, this is a must-see for anyone who missed out on it back then or has been searching for an N4 model in good condition.
