Ibanezを代表し、今なおリイシューモデルも発表され、高い人気を誇るRG550シリーズ。
今回入荷致しました品はその第1世代の1990年に製作された個体。
30年以上経過した貫禄のルックスが映えるこちらも高い人気を誇るDesert Sun Yellowの個体です。
所々に見受けられる日焼けの後も渋く、RG550を代表するカラーの一つとも言える佇まいは時代を超えて愛され続けております。

ネックシェイプはIbanezの薄いネックシェイプをシーンに印象付けさせた名シェイプ、Wizardを採用。
幅広薄めという形状は当時のハードロック、メタルシーンのプレイヤー達を中心に人気を博し、今のその高い演奏性は健在です。
ネック裏の艶消しの質感も滑らかで握りやすく、素早いポジション移動もスムーズに行えます。

木材構成はバスウッドボディ、メイプルネック、メイプル指板からの伝統的な組み合わせを採用。
フラットな音響特性のおかげで中低域はまとまりの良さが感じられ、ハリのある高域が印象的なバランスの良い組み合わせです。

ピックアップはフロントとリアが換装されており、それぞれDiMarzio Super DistortionとDiMarzio Evolutionへと換装。
センターはオリジナルのIbanez S1をマウントしております。
全体的にバランスを考慮した組み合わせとなっており、クリーンではフロントでの暖かみと太さが感じられる音色、センターでの歯切れの良さと煌びやかさ、リアでの伸びやかさと明るさが感じられる力強い音色等更にはボリュームやトーンコントロールを用いる事で様々な表情を見せてくれます。
ドライヴ時にはそれらのパワー感を活かし、歌うようなリードトーンからシュレッドプレイに最適なパワフルな音色が幅広いジャンルで活躍してくれます。

コンディションは経年や使用に伴うスリキズや打痕、パーツ類のくすみやサビ、一部塗装のひびや欠け、色焼け、ネック塗装傷み、木部のクラック補修痕、ヘッドロゴ剥がれ等が見受け有れますがフレットの余力もまだまだあり、トラスロッドの効きも良好な即戦力としてこれからもお使い頂けるコンディション。

The RG550 series is iconic for Ibanez; even today, reissue models are still being released, and the series remains highly popular.
The instrument we’ve just received is a first-generation model manufactured in 1990.
It features the highly sought-after “Desert Sun Yellow” finish, which exudes a dignified look that has stood the test of time over 30 years.
The sun-faded marks visible in places add a distinctive charm, and this finish—arguably one of the RG550’s signature colors—continues to be loved across generations.

The neck features the iconic “Wizard” shape—Ibanez’s signature slim neck profile that left a lasting impression on the music scene.
Its wide yet slim profile was particularly popular among players in the hard rock and metal scenes of the time, and its exceptional playability remains as strong as ever today.
The matte finish on the back of the neck is smooth and comfortable to grip, allowing for quick and effortless position changes.

The wood configuration features a traditional combination of a basswood body, maple neck, and maple fingerboard.
Thanks to its flat acoustic characteristics, the mid-to-low frequencies feel well-integrated, creating a well-balanced combination with impressive, crisp highs.

The front and rear pickups have been replaced with a DiMarzio Super Distortion and a DiMarzio Evolution, respectively.
The middle pickup retains the original Ibanez S1.
The overall setup is carefully balanced: in clean mode, the front pickup delivers a warm, full-bodied tone; the middle pickup offers crispness and brilliance; and the rear pickup produces a powerful, bright, and resonant sound. Furthermore, adjusting the volume and tone controls allows for a wide range of tonal expressions.
When played with drive, the guitar harnesses this power to deliver everything from singing lead tones to powerful sounds ideal for shredding, making it versatile across a wide range of genres.

In terms of condition, there are signs of age and use, including scratches and dents, tarnish and rust on parts, some cracks and chips in the finish, discoloration, wear on the neck finish, repair marks on wood cracks, and peeling of the headstock logo. However, there is still plenty of life left in the frets, and the truss rod is functioning well, making this a ready-to-play instrument that you can continue to enjoy.

This is an iconic model that defined an era and remains beloved to this day.
