1968年に名工Bernie Chavez RicoによってB.C.RICHのエレキギター製作が始まり、その後ハードロック、メタルシーンの中で数々のモデルが生まれて来ました。
今回入荷致しました品は最初のエレキギターモデルとして生まれたSeagullを経て製作された後継モデル、Eagle。
1978年頃に製作された希少なお品物と成ります。
使用されているマホガニー材の美しさが際立つナチュラルカラーによって仕上げられており、指板の杢目の濃淡も美しい一品です。

B.C.RICHの特徴でもあるスルーネック方式によってセットされたネックは薄く仕上げらえたDシェイプに近い握り心地を感じさせ、その卓越した技術力によって生まれた握り心地は数々のアーティスト達が惚れ込んで来た事も納得のフィット感です。
また24フレット構成ではありますがボディの形状やヒール部に当たる箇所の仕上げ方も丁寧に行われており、ローポジションからハイポジションまで滑らかな移動が可能となっております。

木材行為背はマホガニーウイング、マホガニーネック、ブラジリアンローズウッド指板からの構成を採用。
3.31kgと軽く、そのおかげでまとまりの良さが感じられながらも太さのある中低域と伸びやかな高域が印象的なバランスの良い構成です。

ピックアップには当時の特徴でもあるDiMarzio Dual Sound (Square Ear)をマウント。
Super Distorionモデルにコイルタップ機能を持たせたモデルは暖かみを感じさせる太い音色が楽しめ、楽器のキャラクターと合わさる事でクリーントーンでは艶やかさと太さが感じられます。
またボリュームやトーンコントロールへの追従性も良く、様々な表情を見せてくれます。
ドライヴ時にはより太さが増したパワフルなサウンドが楽しめ、ロックジャンルを始めとした様々なシーンでも活躍してくれます。
更に特徴的なコントロールによって各PUのコイルタップ、フェイズスイッチ、ブーストスイッチ、ヴァリトーンセレクターを使用する事で非常に幅広いサウンドを選べる点も魅力です。

コンディションは経年や使用に伴うスリキズや打痕、パーツ類のくすみやサビ、一部塗装の割れや欠け、エスカッションのヒビ、色焼け等が見受けられますがフレットの余力もしっかりとあり、トラスロッドは現在締め方向にキツめと成っておりますが現状演奏性に支障は無く、これからもしっかりとお使い頂けるコンディション。

コア材を使用したモデルと比べお求めやすい価格帯ながらしっかりとヴィンテージB.C.RICHらしいクオリティの高さ、サウンドの良さ、演奏性の良さが感じられる、オススメの品となります。

Master luthier Bernie Chavez Rico began crafting B.C.RICH electric guitars in 1968, and since then, numerous models have emerged within the hard rock and metal scenes.
The item we have recently received is the Eagle, the successor model to the Seagull—the brand’s very first electric guitar.
It is a rare piece crafted around 1978.
Finished in a natural color that highlights the beauty of the mahogany wood, this instrument features a beautiful variation in the grain of the fingerboard.

The neck, set using the through-body construction characteristic of B.C. Rich, offers a grip that feels close to a thin D-shape. This exceptional craftsmanship has created a fit that has captivated countless artists, and it’s easy to see why.
Although it features a 24-fret configuration, the body shape and the finish around the heel are meticulously crafted, allowing for smooth movement from the low to the high positions.

The wood configuration features a mahogany body, mahogany neck, and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.
Weighing just 3.31 kg, it feels well-balanced while delivering a rich, full-bodied mid-low range and a crisp, resonant high range.

It is equipped with DiMarzio Dual Sound (Square Ear) pickups, a hallmark of that era.
This model, which adds a coil-tap function to the Super Distortion design, delivers a warm, full-bodied tone. When combined with the instrument’s character, it produces a clean tone with a lustrous, rich quality.
It also responds well to volume and tone controls, offering a wide range of tonal expressions.
When driven, it delivers a powerful sound with even greater body, making it a versatile choice for various genres, including rock.
Another appealing feature is the ability to select from a very wide range of sounds using the distinctive controls, such as coil taps for each pickup, a phase switch, a boost switch, and a Varitone selector.

In terms of condition, there are some scratches and dents from age and use, as well as tarnish and rust on parts, some cracking and chipping of the finish, cracks in the escutcheon, and discoloration. However, there is plenty of fretting life remaining, and while the truss rod is currently set slightly tight, it does not affect playability and the guitar is in good enough condition to continue being used reliably.

While priced more affordably than models made with solid wood, this guitar still delivers the high quality, excellent sound, and great playability characteristic of vintage B.C. Rich instruments, making it a highly recommended item.
