ケンタッキー州ウインチェスターに工房を構える「RSギターワークス」は、ヴィンテージギターのリペアやレストアの経験豊富なビルダーRoy Bowen氏とScott Leedy氏によって設立。
地元のミュージシャンはもちろんのこと、口コミで広がった彼らの仕事ぶりを求めて多くのミュージシャンのリペアや製作を手がけています。

ヴィンテージギターにインスパイアされたデザインにユニークなアイデアを取り入れたギター作りが最大の魅力で、こちらは同ブランドの中でも特に個性派といえる逸品「ワークホース」、2016年製個体です。

最も歴史のあるソリッド・エレクトリック(同社ではOld Friend Slabと名付けています)をベースに、長年弾き込まれ、カスタマイズされてきた姿を表現しています。

メイプル1ピースのネックはややスリムで平たいUシェイプを採用。フラットな指板面と大きめのフレットでスムーズな演奏性に仕上げています。
ヘヴィなエイジド加工に対しグリップ面の塗膜を維持することで、環境変化によるネックへの負担軽減が考慮されています。

ボディは軽量なアッシュ材を使用。リアルなウェザーチェックや大胆な凹みが道具として使い込まれてきた風合いを生み出しています。
ブリッジサドルは「アルミ」「ステンレス」「ブラス」の3種類を各弦ごとに変えることで、独特な響きを狙っています。

そして本モデルのハイライトはやはりピックアップ・アッセンブリーでしょう。
ドッグイヤータイプのP90を強引に取り付け、TONEコントロールはスイッチで2wayのみ、というワイルドなセンスが光ります。
リンディ・フレーリン社製の高出力タイプをマウントし、ワイドレンジで明瞭なアタック感が得られます。

元々の加工が多いため判断が難しいですが、使用に伴うスリキズやサビの進行やノブのひびが見受けられます。
フレットの目立った消耗は見受けられず現状8割程度の残り、ネック＆トラスロッドのコンディション良好です。

純正ハードケース、スペックシートが付属いたします。

ピックガードの色焼け痕や、ところどころビスの種類が違うなど、ストーリー性のあるエイジド加工は実に格好良い逸品です。

RS Guitarworks, based in Winchester, Kentucky, was founded by builders Roy Bowen and Scott Leedy, who have extensive experience repairing and restoring vintage guitars. They repair and build guitars for not only local musicians, but also many other musicians who have come to seek out their work through word of mouth.

The brand's greatest appeal lies in its unique guitar-making, incorporating designs inspired by vintage guitars and unique ideas. This is a 2016 Workhorse model, arguably the most distinctive of the brand's collection.

Based on the brand's oldest solid-state electric guitar (which the company calls the Old Friend Slab), this guitar expresses the look of a guitar that has been played and customized over the years.

The one-piece maple neck features a slightly slim, flat U-shape. The flat fingerboard and large frets ensure smooth playability.
The heavy aging process maintains the coating on the grip surface, reducing stress on the neck due to environmental changes.

The body is made of lightweight ash. The realistic weathering and bold dents create the appearance of a well-used instrument. The bridge saddles are made of three different types: aluminum, stainless steel, and brass, and are changed for each string to create a unique sound.

The highlight of this model is undoubtedly the pickup assembly.
The dog-ear type P90s are forcibly installed, and the tone control is only a two-way switch, showing off a wild sense of style.
The high-output Lindy Fralin pickups provide a wide range and a clear attack.

It is difficult to judge due to the amount of original work done, but there are scratches and rust due to use, and the knobs are cracked.
The frets show no noticeable wear and currently about 80% remain, and the neck and truss rod are in good condition.

Original hard case and spec sheet are included.

The aged finish, with its story-telling characteristics such as discoloration marks on the pickguard and different types of screws in places, makes this a truly cool piece.
