数多くのHR/HMシーンのプレイヤー達から愛され、長い歴史を今なお歩み続けているWASHBURN。
今回入荷致しました品はそんなHR/HMシーンが最盛期とも言える80年代後期にラインナップされ、僅かな期間のみ制作されていた希少なモデルEC-29EX。
カラーはまるでポップアートの様な大胆な色使いを採用したSPLASHが目を惹き、その特異なルックスと共にステージ映えする個性的が光る品です。

モデル名の通り29フレット仕様を持ち、更にスルーネック構造、Nシリーズでも採用されているStephen's Extended Cutawayのヒール形状等ハイフレットへのアクセスも容易なデザインが採用されており、スリムなネック形状との組み合わせも当時のテクニカルシーンのプレイヤー向けに開発された事が伺えます。

木材構成はソフトメイプルウイング、メイプルネック、ローズウッド指板からの組み合わせを採用。
まとまりの良さと芯の太さが感じられる中低域とスルーネック構造のおかげもあり、伸びやかな高域が楽しめる組み合わせです。

ピックアップはフロントにWashburnオリジナルのシングルコイルモデルSをマウントし、リアはDiMarzio DP155 The Tone Zoneへ換装。
クリーントーンではその明るさを活かしたクリアな音色が楽しめ、シングルコイルらしいハリのある煌びやかな音色や太さが感じられるリアでの音色双方とも扱いやすいキャラクターです。
ドライヴ時には歪みの乗りも良く、骨太なハイゲインサウンドとの相性も良いパワフルな音色を出力し、意外にも幅広いジャンルで活躍してくれます。
オリジナルではミッドブースターが搭載しておりましたが現在はオミットされており、ブースターノブはトーンへ移行させて頂いております。

コンディションは経年や使用に伴うスリキズや打痕、パーツ類のくすみやサビ、メッキ剥げ、一部塗装に欠けやひび、色焼けが見受けられる他エスカッションやバックパネルに割れや欠けが見受けられますがフレットの余力も充分にあり、トラスロッドの効きも良好な即戦力としてこれからもお使い頂けるコンディション。

目を惹くルックスと通常のギターでは中々表現が難しい高音域が楽しめるハイスペックな品です。

WASHBURN, beloved by countless players in the heavy rock/heavy metal scene and continuing its long history to this day.
The item newly arrived is the rare EC-29EX model, part of the lineup during the late 80s—arguably the peak of the heavy rock/heavy metal scene—and produced for only a brief period.
Its SPLASH finish, featuring bold colors reminiscent of pop art, immediately catches the eye. This unique look, combined with its distinctive stage presence, makes it a truly standout piece.

True to its model name, it features a 29-fret specification. Furthermore, its design prioritizes easy access to the upper frets, incorporating a through-neck construction and Stephen's Extended Cutaway heel shape, also used in the N Series. Combined with its slim neck profile, it's clear this was developed for players in the technical scene of that era.

The wood configuration combines a soft maple wing body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. This combination delivers cohesive, full-bodied mid-to-low frequencies and, thanks to the through-neck construction, allows for extended, resonant highs.

The front pickup is Washburn's original Model S single-coil, while the rear has been upgraded to a DiMarzio DP155 The Tone Zone. Clean tones showcase its bright, clear character, while the rear pickup delivers the characteristic single-coil sparkle and punch with a satisfying weight. Both offer highly playable tones.
When driven, distortion engages well, producing a powerful tone that pairs excellently with thick, high-gain sounds. Surprisingly versatile, it performs well across a wide range of genres.
The original included a mid-booster, but this has been omitted. The booster knob has been converted to a tone control.

Condition shows signs of age and use: surface scratches, dents, tarnish/rust on parts, plating wear, some paint chips/cracks/fading, plus cracks/chips on the escutcheon and back panel. However, it remains in playable condition with ample fret life and a responsive truss rod.

It boasts an eye-catching look and high-spec performance, delivering a bright, high-end tone that's difficult to achieve with standard guitars.
